You may think saving just $10 a week isn’t even worth it – I mean, how much money can you really accumulate only saving $10 a week.

If you save $10 a week for a full year, you’ll have $520 put aside. Not exactly enough for a dream beach vacation, but definitely more than $0.

If all you can save is $10 a week right now, then that is great! Do it and don’t ever tell yourself it’s not worth it or it won’t matter.

Because when you can afford to save more money, and you can up your savings to $20 a week (then $50 and $100 eventually), you’ll have money to build on and the habits and routines already set in place, so you’ll know exactly what to do with it.

It’s a really, really, really great place to start. And it’s definitely worth doing.

Need some tips on how to start saving money?

It can be hard to find extra money to put aside in savings. Here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Commit to eating at home every night – no more eating out.
  2. Cancel as many subscription services as you can (newspaper, cable, apps, streaming services, gym memberships, subscription boxes). Look at your bank statement to see what recurring charges you may have.
  3. No more online shopping – cancel Amazon Prime or store cards if you are buying too much.
  4. Unsubscribe from emails that make you spend money – deals newsletters or retailer emails.
  5. Cut out entertainment – Find fun things to do at home and free events in the community or have friends and family over instead of going out.
  6. Sell things – Declutter and have a yard sale or find things you can sell on Facebook marketplace to make more money.
  7. Get a side job or second job – Find something you can do in your spare time (even if just for a short season) until you reach your savings goal.

You can always review your bank statement to see how you are spending your money and where you can cut back to find a few extra dollars to save.
