Paris Olympics 2024: Who's qualified for Team USA? (2024)

The U.S. has earned quota spots for three women and one man, with the final chance to earn quota spots coming up at a qualification tournament in June. As far as team events, the U.S. is currently eligible to compete in the women's event and the mixed team event. To determine which athletes make the Olympic roster, USA Archery holds Olympic Trials, which involve multiple stages and are still ongoing.

Artistic Swimming

The U.S. has qualified an artistic swimming team for the first time since 2008. Due to a recent rule change, men are now eligible for spots on the team for the first time ever, but no athletes have officially been named to the Olympic roster yet. The U.S. also qualified for the women's duet event.

The qualification period for badminton concludes on April 28. At that point, athletes will begin officially qualifying for the Paris Olympics based on the final ranking list.

The U.S. has qualified men's and women's basketball teams based on its results at the most recent World Cups. The men's roster, a star-studded cast featuring four previous NBA MVP winners, was announced on April 17. The women's roster will be announced at a later date.

Basketball 3x3

The U.S. has qualified men's and women's 3x3 teams thanks to its place in the world rankings. The men's roster, headlined by former BYU standout Jimmer Fredette, was announced in March and features the same group of players that won silver at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The women's roster has not yet been announced but could potentially include some WNBA players who miss out on making the 5-on-5 roster.

Beach Volleyball

The main qualification period for beach volleyball ends on June 10. Most Olympic spots will be awarded at that time, with the caveat that each country can qualify a maximum of two pairs of players. However, two U.S. women's pairings have already mathematically clinched their spots for Paris. The U.S. is currently in position to get two men's pairings as well, but none have officially secured qualification yet.

Several U.S. boxers have already qualified through either the 2023 Pan American Games or the first Olympic qualifying tournament. For all non-qualified weight classes, the members of the 2024 USA Boxing Elite High Performance Team have the opportunity to participate in one more Olympic qualifying tournament (May 23-June 3) where they can earn a quota spot for the U.S.

Super Heavyweight: Joshua Edwards

Flyweight: Jennifer Lozano
Lightweight: Jajaira Gonzalez
Welterweight: Morelle McCane

Qualification is currently ongoing for canoeing. Each country is limited to one boat per event, and a series of Olympic Trials will determine which athletes fill the quota spots earned by the U.S. Just two athletes have officially qualified for the U.S. Olympic canoeing team thus far, but more will join them as qualification events and Olympic Trials continue.

The qualification period for road cycling has ended, and the U.S. can bring a team of three men and two women to Paris. Chloe Dygert has provisionally earned a spot thanks to her 2023 world title in the women's time trial. The U.S. has also earned several quota spots in track cycling, but no athletes have been named to the Olympic team yet. Meanwhile, qualification for mountain biking, BMX racing and BMX freestyle is still ongoing, and the U.S. has already started securing quota spots in some of those disciplines.

The U.S. will have at least one diver in every Olympic event with the exception of men's synchronized platform. In total, the U.S. has currently qualified six out of a possible eight quota spots in the individual events, in addition to qualifying a team for three of the four synchronized events. The athletes filling those quota spots will be determined at U.S. Olympic Diving Trials taking place June 16-23 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The U.S. successfully qualified for all three team events (dressage, jumping, eventing), and as a result, will also have three entries in each of the individual competitions. The Olympic roster will be named later this year.

The qualification period for golf ends on June 17 for men and June 24 for women. Players will automatically qualify based on the International Golf Federation's world ranking list at that time. The U.S. could send the maximum of four men and four women to Paris, provided that all those players are ranked in the top 15 at the end of the qualification period. Current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was the first American to mathematically secure a spot in Paris.

The U.S. has qualified full teams for both the men and women thanks its performances at the last two world championships. That means that five men and five women will ultimately be named to the Olympic team. As part of the selection process, Olympic Trials will be held June 27-30 in Minneapolis. Only the top-ranked athlete in the all-round competitions for both men and women will earn an automatic spot on the Olympic team, however; the rest of the team will be decided by discretionary selection.

The U.S. has currently qualified eight boats for Paris but can add to that total at the final Olympic qualifier taking place in May. For some of the boats, a selection camp was held in March to determine who would fill them in Paris. For other boats, Olympic Trials were held in April to determine which rowers would fill them. In the case of the women's four and women's eight, a group of 13 rowers were named to the Olympic team, but it has not yet been decided who will be in which boat.
